Drink a moderate amount of water throughout the 12 hours prior to class (but don’t overdo it). Because you will sweat a lot in class, we advise you to be well hydrated prior to coming to class.
Don’t come to class on a completely empty stomach, but also don’t eat anything heavy for at least 2-3 hours before class, otherwise you may feel nauseous (yuck!). If you must eat, have a small amount of something light and water-based, such as fruit in order to keep your blood sugar level up. Eating oatmeal or a tuna sandwich prior to class is a really bad idea!
Don't be nervous or afraid. The worst thing that can happen is that you sit for 85 of the 90 minutes. That will be your starting point. It's a perfectly fine place to start!
Wear lightweight work-out clothes, such as biking shorts, sports top, tank top, one-piece bathing suits for women or swimming trunks for men, etc.. Wear as little and as lightweight clothing as modestly possible (short of being nude) to minimize your distractions. You won’t want a lot of clothes sticking to your sweet sweating body. Nobody will care what you look like.
Bring a sticky yoga mat, bath-sized towel to cover your mat, and a bottle of water (plastic bottles only; no glass please). We also have these items available at the studio for purchase and/or rent. Complimentary mat rental is included in the 2-Week and 1-Month Introductory Packages. Thereafter, mat rental is $2. We also sell various types of mats and yoga towels.
We offer changing facilities and showers with organic body washes, shampoo and conditioner. If you plan on showering here, bring a shower towel as well, or you can rent one for $2.
We generally have plastic bags available for your wet clothes, but we rely on students' donations of recycled plastic bags. Just to be safe, bring a bag for your wet clothes.
